That's weird....it's like saying that the Simpson's shouldn't show Homer drinking beer simply because children like cartoons. You'd think with the success of Adult Swim and etc. that people would know by now that cartoons appeal to adults.

The mention of Bratz dolls is funny though. I was wondering the other day, "These things look like mini prostitutes...where are the feminist? They were bitching about Barbie...at least she's a doctor...now we are encouraging girls to aspire to Paris Hilton?" But no one is saying anything about the things directed specifically to children...weird. I think people are just making a big deal over nothing...to be honest if I saw that I would of thought it was a work of art and would of barely noticed the fact it was an ad. It looks more like a really cool mural than a billboard or something.

If Philly doesn't want any posters I'll gladly take one off their hands.

You've got parents protesting. You've made it!

Somebody had commented that "Jim Mahfood has sold the #$%& out. But I guess there are worse products to be shilling, and worse people to sell 'em." HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Apparently paying rent and buying groceries now constitutes selling out.

Way to piss people off man! Kick ass posters too!

making money off your skills isn't selling out. i drink beer. me and mike huddleston used to pound colt 45 40's all the damn time back in college. we named our studio 40oz Comics for god's sake. so having my art associated with this product isn't selling out. i don't give a shit what anyone says. i have paid my dues and been involved with underground culture since 1993. fuck the haters.

Yea...I hate it when people use the word sell out anyway.

When you father Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan's child or start holding a small dog with a tiara in a juicy couture bag then I will say you've sold out.

I think it's cool you did it, I got lucky and just saw one copy of Grrl Scouts #1 in the comic book shop and bought it. This is what introduces your art to a wider audience so more can see what you do. It's unique, it's different, it's art. People need to see that. It's a different world for art. We are a capitalist society that doesn't really appreciate it, this is how artist get seen now.

I also hate how the article mentions these are in poor neighborhoods. Is that what this is really about? I love how our society blames the poor for everything. If anything I would be offended at the assumptions that every poor person is a potential alcoholic if they aren't already.....eh sorry I am not trying to make this political. :D

Not saying that your work imply that but the article/the protesters seem to imply that.
:D

I think the posters are amazing...just like your other work just with a couple of Colt 45s thrown in there.

Hey man, I totally dig what you're saying! Those douchebags are total haters. City of Brotherly Love my ass.

BTW, just finished reading the Stupid Comics PHX Edition. It's great, I wish I had been aware of this when I was living down there.

Peace!

And for the record that website is totally bias. I posted a comment in defense of the art and they have refused to post it....so much for fair and bias journalism.

un-bias is what I meant to say. :D
