Another hard day at the office. On Saturday I got to sit in on the most recent photo shoot for the new NerdCore 2009 Calender. My friends Jon, Chris, and Derek are geniuses. Their first calender from two years ago was hot naked girls playing old school arcade games. Last year's calender was superhero themed and this year's is sci-fi. Niiice. These are some of my drawings; I'm very, very rusty and live figure drawing. Holy shit. Peep the calenders at: http://www.totallynerdcore.com/
There's an exclusive look at a bunch of my art from my new hardcover book, MIXTAPE #2 at: www.myspace.com/comicbooks You can buy the book at: http://www.40ozcomics.com/store.php
Just a quick sneak peak into the sketchbook Mike and I are working on. The top two are images Mike started and I finished, the last image is one I just started and he has to respond to. This project is fun as hell.
This is an album cover I just did (colors by Justin Stewart) for the rad, Seattle-based band, Kirby Krackle. Check 'um at: http://www.myspace.com/kirbykracklemusic
This is the custom Funkey I painted for the Vinyl Art Show tomorrow (Fri) night @ Munky King. 7-11pm. All of the money goes to the Mattel Childrens Foundation charity so if you're around Melrose stop on by! My little brother's new mix cd is now available for purchase. It's an hour of over the top hip hop/funk/rock all mixed together with some furious scratching and finesse and a brief cameo by me on the beat box. Cop it at: http://www.40ozcomics.com/store.php Hear a sample at: www.myspace.com/djmahf
http://www.munkyking.com/Shop_cat.php?cat=15&sub= This is all the original art that will be on display/for sale at Munky King tomorrow night. We're doing a sneak peak online so potential buyers can pick up a piece before tomorrow.
I rocked this mural at Munky King on Melrose on Monday. It's for my book release party for Kick Drum Comix #1. The party is tomorrow (THURS) night from 7-11pm. 7308 Melrose Ave. LA CA 90046.
The first piece is for From The Land Beyond Sci-Fi and Horror Con in Sacramento. They're having a Charity Art Auction to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and Loaves and Fishes Mustard Seed School for Homeless Children. Info at: http://www.sacanime.com/fromthelandbeyond/html/auction.html. The second piece is for the big Wonder Woman Day at Excalibur Books in Portland, Oregon, and at Comic Fusion in Flemington, New Jersey. The art auction raises money for Domestic Violence Shelters and Crisis Lines in Portland, Oregon and Flemington, NJ. These are both cool auctions with bad ass artists, so if you're into scoring some good art and helpin out some good causes, research the 'ol interweb for more info...
Kick Drum #1 is out and everyone is pumped. Here's a quick preview of #2. It's got two stories: "Brian and Rod: Battle of the Bands, Battle of the Hearts" colored by S. Steven Struble, and "Echo Chambers: Bombastic Avenging Disco Space Goddess" colored by Justin Stewart. Due out on Oct. 29th.
